About the project

The aim of the project is to create an Integrated Information System of cooperation Science for the Society (Science4Society) for communication between industrial partners, scientific units, research institutes, local administration and institutions interested in innovation.

The rapid progress in scientific research and the dynamic development of industrial production in many fields make it necessary to keep up with changes in both science and industry. This is particularly important in new industries. Knowledge of changes in both areas, i.e. science and industry, is more or less available, yet its sources are scattered and getting a complete picture sometimes requires a lengthy search.

The task of the platform under construction will be to facilitate the search for partners for the implementation of joint activities. For industry representatives, it will be data on the possibility of performing the necessary tests and measurements in specialized laboratories located in scientific units, easy finding of developed technologies, patents or utility models, finding high-class specialists sought for cooperation or implementation of joint projects, and access to university graduates with sought-after qualifications. For representatives of scientific institutions, the platform will make it easier to find partners looking for new technologies or innovations in their business activities and will allow them to present their research capabilities (research teams, laboratories, owned equipment, research services and developed technologies). Widespread and easy access to this data will also facilitate the preparation of scientific and scientific-industrial consortia for jointly developed research and implementation projects in the Horizon Europe perspective. In addition, the database being created will make it easier for industry representatives to reach out to young engineering staff, educated in emerging disciplines following changes in the labor market.

The results of the project are aimed at the following beneficiaries:

  • Business entities,
  • Higher education institutions,
  • Łukasiewicz Research Network,
  • Business environment institutions,
  • Technology Transfer Centers,
  • Technology parks,
  • Economic Zones,
  • Clusters,
  • State and local government administration,
  • Social environment.

The use of such tools will have a positive impact on improving the effectiveness of cooperation between science and industry and supporting innovation processes. The Science4Society dialogue platform will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on cooperation between science, innovation, sustainable development and the economy. Using the potential of Polish universities for the needs of industry will contribute to faster development of technology, better transfer of knowledge and experience as well as the preparation of human capital for investment in Polish industry.

In addition to knowledge of specific technical solutions ready for use in business, it is extremely important to familiarize the public with the nature of the proposed solutions. This requires familiarizing the public with how innovative devices work, but also with the benefit of their widespread use. To achieve the above goal, various channels of public communication with specialists in different areas of knowledge will be used.

The Science4Society information platform realized under this project will be presented and made available both for general use and for institutional beneficiaries. The platform has at least two advantages that distinguish it from the existing university databases implemented by Technology Transfer Centers. The first one is the nationwide coverage of the collected data. The second advantage is a dedicated information and service module for the implementation and management of research services.

The creation and promotion of the Science4Society platform will bring various effects both in the area of institutional cooperation and in raising public awareness and acceptance of technical innovations. In the area of institutional cooperation, the economic side, i.e. entrepreneurs and local administration, will gain wide access to current achievements in the field of science, mostly financed from social funds (NCBR, PARP, MEiN).

On the other hand, research institutions, both institutes and universities, will gain broad knowledge of the current needs of economic entities, which will allow at least partial profiling of the scope of the conducted research work.

The launch of the platform and the means of communication used in the project will create wider opportunities for the presentation of results for creators of innovations as well as for the presentation of technological needs in newly developing industries or in industries seeking modernization for all groups of beneficiaries interested in this topic.

Specific Objectives

  • The applicant will achieve the following specific objectives:
  • improving the effectiveness of cooperation between science and the business environment,
  • fostering innovation processes and commercialization of the results of scientific research and development works, as well as the know-how related to these results, including the promotion of good practices in the field of innovation,
  • dissemination of knowledge on the relationship between science, innovation and the economy,
  • creating broader opportunities for the presentation of the innovations produced (science) as well as the innovation needs  in industrial plants

The aforementioned specific objectives will be achieved by carrying out the following activities:
